Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actor, singer and songwriter. Her family was home-schooled by her mother in the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist taunts and felt unloved. In her 9th grade when she began to gain confidence after receiving a rousing ovation during an audition. Not only did she gain confidence because of the experience, but she also changed career goals. In 1992, she earned her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. She started her professional journey at the age of 23 in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. Her biggest breakthrough was when she starred in the part in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the first Broadway performance of Spamalot receiving not just her the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. The following year she was made the lead character the character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her becoming more famous. A singer by profession, she's also produced songs as well as an extended work. Also, she's an activist and fights to protect LGBT rights.
